Studio Night Out
Our next Studio Outing is a night of swing dancing on June 21 at Lee’s Liquor Lounge. The featured band is The Bad Companions, a long standing and popular Minneapolis based roots-rock quartet. They have two guitars, stand-up bass and drums, with great vocals, a strong original catalog and a set list as long as your arm drawn from the swingin’ heyday of American rock-a-billy, r & b, country and blues.
Lee’s Liquor Lounge is located at 101 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis. There’s an 8 pm lesson and general dancing at 9. If you wish to car pool, meet at the studio at 6:45 pm; we leave promptly at 7 pm. Otherwise, join us at Lee’s.
Twin Cities Open Ballroom Competition
Do you like watching Dancing With The Stars? Have you ever wondered what a ballroom dance competition is all about? Have you ever wanted to see live ballroom dancing?
Now’s your chance! The Twin Cities Open will be held July 5 – 8 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis. The Studio has three students competing in the Pro/Am events. Pro/Am means a student (amateur dancer) dances with their instructor (professional dancer). On Wednesday evening, we’ll be competing in “social dances”, including hustle, merengue, west coast swing, samba, and Argentine tango. Thursday is Rhythm day: cha cha, rumba, swing, bolero, and mambo. Friday is Smooth day: waltz, tango, foxtrot, and Viennese waltz.
Come root for us and other competitors from the metro area, the midwest region, and from across the country. Spectators are encouraged at this national-level ballroom competition where you can cheer for dancers of all ages and all levels of skill.

We enjoyed visiting with our neighbors at the Applewood Pointe and giving them a demonstration of the various dances we teach. Thanks to our host coordinator for joining Charlie to demonstrate the Country 2-Step.
DE Studios is a great place to develop or improve your dancing skills. We specialize in Ballroom, Swing, Latin, and Country Dance styles. If you’re new to ballroom dancing, we start by building a good foundation of the basic elements of partnership dance. Then, we build on that at each lesson. Our goal is to help you develop the skill and confidence needed to feel great on the dance floor and reach your goals for choosing dancing. While our focus is partnership dancing, you can learn to dance without bringing a partner with you.
